About us

# The data science development platform

We make deployment and automation simple.

## First Principles

The fundamental beliefs that guide everything we do from development to pricing.

### Data scientists are developers

Your tools should support the whole development life cycle, from a Git push to an API request.

### Language-agnostic

The language you use shouldn't limit you. We build for every data scientist, regardless of their tool or stack choice.

### Human-centered

Sotware should feel intuitive and useful right out of the box. UX and user feedback loops are important to us.

### Integrity

We are transparent with the community about who we are and why we make our decisions, from pricing to feature development.

## Why we built ricochet

Data scientists are often treated differently than software developers. But the apps, reports, and APIs still need similar infrastructure and treatment. All too often, the hardest part of the job is getting that work off a local developer machine and into production.

Deploying an app with Open-source tools can get complex. For hobbyists, educators, and small teams, deployment can be untenable and prohibitively expensive.

That's why we built ricochet. We believe every data scientist deserves quality developer tools which can be used an any budget, for both personal and corporate use.

## Meet the team

We're a small, international team with one shared vision. Discuss with us directly in our chat rooms!

### Josiah Parry

Founder and CEO

Josiah works on spatial data science and on the tooling that surrounds it, mostly in R and Rust. He has spent years watching teams do good analysis and then lose weeks getting it in front of the people who asked for it.

### Patrick Schratz

Founder and CTO

Patrick builds and runs the infrastructure that data science teams depend on, from package environments to the servers underneath them. He maintains open source tooling in the R ecosystem and has spent a long time on the operations side of the deployment problem.
